Every year we await the it-girl of interior design: Pantone’s chosen color. A reliable trend forecaster, this year it’s a unique blend of cool and warm. Entitled “Very Peri”, this periwinkle blue can be holographic in nature, a chameleon in your interior design.
Meant to place us between reality and fiction, this color has warm red undertones and cool blue overtones. It’s truly versatile.
However, it’s not the most familiar (unless you remember Rachel and Monica’s door!) and might be a bit out of your comfort zone. Here’s our tips on how to style it.
No need to go overboard: Add a few small touches of Very Peri in your home with some well placed accessories. Add in artwork, a pillow, twisted candles, or a nice ceramic featuring the color. This will amp up the playfulness of a room without taking away any maturity.
Very Peri plays very well with neutrals: While most of us tend to favor whites, beiges, and grays, Very Peri is a great accompaniment to a more timeless palette. Pantone recommends it with black, gray, taupe, sand, and a darker beige.
Play with textures: If you’re willing to lean into a more dynamic and whimsical aspect of the color, Very Peri works great in velvet, fur, and suede, even leather! We could all use a little more fun this year.
